VJ Day or Victory over Japan Day remembers the day that Japan surrendered in 1945, effectively bringing the Second World War to an end.
To celebrate VJ Day 80, we’re proud to present a deeply moving new experience at in collaboration with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
Until 16th August, step inside our Now Trending space to hear real wartime letters written by six individuals who served in the Far East during the Second World War - brought vividly to life through immersive visuals and narrated by their descendants.
Letter writing was a vital lifeline during the war, helping to bridge the pain of separation between those serving and their loved ones at home. This exhibition shares their words, emotions, and stories in a way you’ve never experienced before.
